THE team at There Is multidisciplinary creative space sprang into action when news broke Madonna had left out Perth on her first Australian tour in 23 years.

Studio manager Aimee Ko said they wanted to deliver an amazing Madonna event to Perth fans and organised An Exhibition of Madonna Moments.

“It gave us the opportunity to put on an exhibition of highly collectable memorabilia from a private collection,” Ko said.

“It showcases the style evolution of Madonna over the last 30 years and we’ve teamed up with Linneys who is presenting the exhibition with us.

“We felt the partnership had a real synergy since Madonna is so well-known for her Material Girl video clip with her imitation of Marilyn Monroe from Gentleman Prefer Blondes, doing the whole diamonds are a girl’s best friend deal.”

Ko said Linneys had managed to secure Madonna’s tiara worn at her wedding to Guy Ritchie, which would be on public display for the first time in Australia alongside designs by the jeweller.

The two-week exhibition begins with a ticketed launch party at 8.30pm on Friday, March 11 before running March 12 (the night of Madonna’s opening Melbourne concert) to 27.

Ko said the disco-themed event would have a Studio 54 vibe, creating an immersive experience for those attending.

“We have a Madonna drag show, DJ Feminem playing, the highest concentration of disco balls you’ve probably ever seen in one place and a light-up dance floor,” she said.

“We’re teaming up with Cocktail Gastronomy for a pop-up bar experience.

“It is a ticketed event so the $50 entry includes a cocktail on arrival which will be Madonna’s favourite cocktail, pomegranate martini.”

Ko said she was a big Madonna fan and the exhibition would feature more than 40 items of memorabilia including records and posters available for purchase.

“The thing about Madonna is that she’s quite timeless and a real artist because she’s managed to remain relevant by reinventing herself over the years,” she said.

“I think that is quite unique, she does what she likes and doesn’t care what others think.”
