PERTH dancer Jake McLarnon will perform in his first professional hometown show when he returns next week with Australian Dance Theatre for a season of Be Your Self.
McLarnon has been at the South Australian based contemporary dance company for a year, after graduating from WAAPA in 2013.
“It’s such a great environment to be in and the people are some of the best I’ve ever worked with,” the 21-year-old said.

ADT were last in Perth in 2013 with sold-out season of G, and Be Your Self sounds like a powerful follow-up, exploring what it is to be ‘you’, set to an electronic music score.
Choreographed by artistic director Garry Stewart and ADT dancers, the piece looks at the workings of our body and emotional states.
“It’s high movement and powerful, packed on with cartoon and quirky style,” McLarnon said.
“The company is known for being very physical and demanding. And this is another work that develops and explores that more.”
