Ishar turns 21 in high fashion

The not-for-profit organisation in Mirrabooka was established in 1992 and celebrated its 21st birthday at Government House on Friday .

The evening kicked off with speeches from special guests including Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister Mike Nahan who announced a $20,000 funding boost for the organisation’s community support services.

Patron of Ishar Antoinette Kennedy said since its inception Ishar had provided women and their families with a range of support services and in one year helped 24,000 women from 87 different cultural backgrounds.

Ishar women and their families celebrated the occasion and their multicultural backgrounds in style by dressing in traditional clothes.

The diverse cultures were also celebrated with Ishar women putting on a performance.
