Perth adult circus INFAMOUS three years in the making

Sara FitzpatrickEastern Reporter

A NEW circus is coming to town and it’s unlike any you’ve seen before.

A naughty clown, crude comedian and exotic dancers are just some of the characters at play in INFAMOUS.

Needless to say – this is not an event for the kids.

Agile performers also appear in death-defying aerial acts and former Australian Idol contestant and homegrown talent, Cosima De Vito, provides the vocals.

“I want to remove the stigma that the circus is just for family and kids,” said tour manager Louise Evans.

“We often get the stigma of ‘carnies’ – carnival people – and we are the opposite of that.

“Our performers are actually full athletes that work very hard. We have gotten footballers up on our rigs before and they cannot do what we do because they don’t have the agility and ability to make their bodies do what we do.”

The Perth circus – three years in the making – will perform nine shows at home before touring the country.

“If it goes well we’ll be going off to Singapore and Dubai,” Evans said.

“We have put a lot of time, money and effort into this production, so if we can take it internationally, which we likely will, we’ll do it.

“Whether you are coming with friends or with your partner, we have an act for the ladies and gents to feast their eyes upon in this new adults-only uptake of the traditional circus.”

INFAMOUS will launch under the Spiegel Big Top next week in Victoria Park.
