Luscious lashes for any day or night

Sara FitzpatrickEastern Reporter

SOME women focus on their brows: grooming them to perfection, filling them with pomade and making a statement.

Others highlight their pouts with full-bodied liner and the latest striking hue.

Then others (like myself), obsess over their lashes, insisting they be big, brash and thickly coated.

A good mascara does wonders to open and accentuate the eye and make you appear younger and more awake with very little bother.

I have tried dozens of products on the market, high and low-end, in search of the best formula for length and volume.

Here are four that guarantee full, flirty, standout lashes that should probably be reserved for Saturday night but work for me on any given day.

1. Better Than Sex – Too Faced

This iconic, award-winning formula has earned its unforgettable name for very good reason.

If you’re after thick, long, sensational lashes (and let’s face, who isn’t?) this will get the job done – and last all night.

Winner of the Mecca Beauty Election 2018 in the Mascara category, it is hands down my number 1 pick.

Price: $37 (full size), $18 (travel size)

2. Mega Volume Miss Baby Roll Mascara – L’Oreal

If you’re after a simple, affordable, fail-safe option then this is your best bet.

Rivalling most high-end options, it is dependable and mess-free, making it a good choice for daytime wear.

3. Diorshow – Dior

This was my first high-end mascara, showing me over a decade ago what a really good coating could achieve.

A cult favourite, revamped in 2015 but keeping the same oversized brush with densely-packed bristles, it remains a winner.

It looks luxurious with a lovely design and continues to deliver larger-than-life lashes.

4. Damn Girl – Too Faced

Another gem from Too Faced, this new creamy-mousse formula is well worth a lashing.

As its creator says: “This is a mascara for the fearless. It’s for the stiletto girls. It’s for the woman who’s taking charge of her life.”

If that sounds like you then jump on it. But be warned, it goes on thick and can be a little messy.
