Martin gets Perth shaking its Bon Bon

Belinda CiprianoEastern Reporter

DISCLAIMER: I am a Ricky Martin fan, a huge Ricky Martin fan, so when the opportunity to review the last leg of his Australian One World tour on Friday night came up, I jumped at the chance.

The mostly female crowd swooned and shook their bon bons as the Latino heart-throb took to the Perth Arena stage wearing an all-white ensemble and delighting the crowd with his latest hit Mr Put it Down, This is Good and Drop it on Me.

Martin, who rose to fame in the Puerto Rican boy-band Menudo, entertained the adoring audience with some of his biggest hits including Shake Your Bon Bon, Living La Vida Loca and a sexed-up version of She Bangs which he performed atop a moving Mustang.

Beautiful moments included a duet of I Am Made of You and Be Careful with The Voice contestant Jackson Thomas.

Co-mentor and opening act Delta Goodrem then joined Martin to wow the crowd with stunning versions of the ballads Private Emotion and Nobody Wants to Be Lonely.

His final set had everyone dancing "carnival style" and included a medley of Spanish hits – Adios, Lola Lola, Maria, La Mordidita, La Bomba – while Por Arriba, Por Abajo had the crowd dancing-off for Martin's attention.

A touching shout-out to the people of Nepal and summons to keep dancing had the crowd begging for more.

With everyone on their feet, Martin closed the tour with dance numbers Pegate and Cup of Life and so the party was over – for now.

Brilliant, five stars.
