My Christmas: Mark McGowan, WA Premier

How are you celebrating Christmas this year?

I’m going to spend some quality time with my family this Christmas.

In the lead up to the day, I enjoyed launching the Rockingham 2017 Community Christmas Lights Display, which is a great local event.

Christmas in the summer is great as it’s nice and warm and as a family, we love heading down to one of Rockingham’s beautiful beaches for some swimming and snorkelling.

What does Christmas mean to you?

While Christmas is a time for family, it’s important to recognise everyone who works hard over the holiday period – hospitality and retail workers who continue to provide for us, and emergency services and care workers who protect and look after our loved ones.

Christmas is not always a fortunate time for everyone.

If you have a few hours free, consider volunteering with one of the many organisations that help those in need.

I spent some time volunteering with the Salvation Army last Christmas and it was a very rewarding experience.

Mostly importantly, don’t forget to keep safe, have fun and enjoy the festive season.
