EMMA Arends loves donning her little colourful jazz boots in the new Peppa Pig stage show.
She plays sole human, Daisy, in Peppa’s Big Surprise, facilitating the action between audiences and animal characters.
“Daisy is energetic, bubbly and encouraging – it’s impossible to come out of the show without a smile on my face,” Arends said.
The UK actor has played Peppa’s vivacious friend in two UK tours, four West End runs and on the big screen in 2017 theatre release, Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience.
“Peppa Pig has been in my life for a good five years now and it has grown bigger and bigger each year,” she said.
“Starring as Daisy in the cinematic release in the UK and Australia has given me a very close connection to the show.
“I definitely got some brownie points from my younger niece and nephew when the film came out and when I took my niece to the premiere in London.”
She said another job perk was receiving grateful responses from parents.
“I got a message recently from a dad; his girls had been having trouble sleeping with problems going on around them and he said that when the movie came out on DVD he put it on for them every night and they now fall asleep with smiles on their faces,” Arends said.
“That makes me feel so happy that I can help their imagination run wild for an hour, taking them into another fun world.”
Arends said Peppa’s Big Surprise “ticked all the boxes for children”.
“It’s colourful, it’s about an animal family, they make funny voices ‘oinking’ and they love jumping in muddy puddles, giggling and getting dirty – what’s not to love?” she said.
