PERTH band Foxton Kings drew inspiration from unrequited love to record its latest EP, With Love.

The band is launching the EP at Lucy’s Love Shack in the Perth CBD on March 15 at 7pm.

With Love marked a goodbye for two former members, who left the band after an eastern states tour in November.

It will be officially released in April.

Member Daniel Rose, of Maylands, said the EP covered the feeling of unrequited love, bad band decisions and the hanging of a teenager in the mid-1800s.

“We try to juxtapose this musically with a bright and bouncy energy, to inspire a liberation from the negativity,” he said.

“We tried to combine the musical elements that all four of us connected on, rock, blues, metal and punk, with as many of our own individual interests as we could.

“A huge part of our process was about compromise… for example, we had a rule where if you disagreed with an idea, you had to provide an alternative.”

Rose said the band was looking forward to the launch, where supporting acts Grace Sanders, Legs Electric and Joan and the Giants would also be performing.

“There’s always a lot of love at our Perth launches, it’s a great opportunity for us to try out new ideas in front of a supportive audience who’ll love us no matter what we do,” he said.
