Sara FitzpatrickEastern Reporter

HE keeps it simple with chinos, a blazer and an open-neck shirt as his everyday look, but don’t let that fool you.

Matthew Pavlich has a passion for local fashion.

The Freo footy legend, and wife Lauren, are Cultural Program ambassadors for this year’s Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF).

The couple are committed to the culture and arts scene and all things Perth and are thrilled to come on board.

Lauren has a 15-year history with fashion powerhouse ae’lkemi.

The homegrown beauty has dazzled in the label’s gowns at the Brownlows on 10 occasions.

Her bridesmaid dresses were designed by ae’lkemi’s Alvin Fernandez – he even created her mum’s ensemble for the big day.

“We’ve always been really keen to support people in WA business; everyone works so hard in their little area so we’ll do anything we can to help those that are doing such a great job,” Lauren said.

“People continue to say that Perth is a bit of a sleepy city but we all know there is lots going on here and we’re really keen to support that,” Matthew said.

The Cultural Program includes events, workshops and exhibitions, such as the Beyond Bling jewellery exhibition and Perth Upmarket, and runs until December.

“It caters to so many different people and tastes – you can get along to free events if you want to, there are things that kids can go and watch and there is also night-time stuff more streamlined to adults,” Lauren said.

“We really like that it is a dynamic array of events rather than it just being the large, big ticket items – we’re excited to speak up and be advocates for the smaller players in this industry as well,” Mathew said.
