Power Ranger Jason David Frank prepares for Perth Supanova

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

ORIGINAL red Power Ranger Jason David Frank, from the famous Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, will stand in line for next year’s movie along with other fans of the franchise.

Hype has begun to bubble, with an image of star Elizabeth Banks in costume and make-up as villain Rita Repulsa was recently revealed online ahead of the film’s 2017 release and Frank is waiting with bated breath.

“The movie is going to be huge; it is in the top 10 most anticipated films next year,” he said.

“It is very top secret but Liz Banks as Rita looks amazing.

“I have to wait to see with everyone else.”

Since donning the red power ranger costume as Tommy Oliver in 1993, the Power Rangers have been a huge part of his life, racking up appearances in 225 episodes and two films.

He said there was no way to tell 23 years ago that he would still be talking about it now.

“It’s just one of those things and I was talking to my buddy about it recently,” he said.

“Who knew? I didn’t think 20 years ago that I would be here, but I have always focused on today and not the future. I live now.”

Now the actor, martial artist and inductee of the World Karate Union Hall of Fame spends as much time as he can with his mum Janice Frank, who is battling cancer, ahead of his trip to Australia this month as part of Supanova Pop Culture Expo.

Community News was requested to keep our chat with the red ranger short out of respect for his time with her.

“I am visiting Mum today,” he said.

Supanova Pop Culture Expo will be at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, June 24-26.
