Project to bring a smile to strangers

Mrs Cousins came up with the idea which involves the Perth online community giving complete strangers a pretty little package, just because.

Ms Clavey (27), who works at Betts Malaga in the digital sales department and runs the blog Lei Lady Lei, said she wanted to get involved because she loved the idea of brightening someone’s day. ‘There is so much negativity circulating on social media and I love the idea of making someone’s day or bringing a smile to even a stranger’s face,’ she said.

Participating bloggers were matched, with the first round run in April and a second held this month.

Mrs Cousins said it was the online bullying and suicide of Charlotte Dawson that spurred her into action to make a difference in the online community.

‘It dawned on me, a smile or wave is so lovely to receive, a text asking how you are makes you feel great, a letter or -mail is even better, but when you receive a package, especially one with so much thought put into it, it can really make a person’s entire week,’ she said.

Mrs Cousins said it was from here her popular Pretty Little Package concept was born. |More than 80 participants around the world took part in the last round and she will be looking at running it for a third time later this year.
