CIRQUE de la Symphonie has found its niche collaborating with symphony orchestras from around the world, fusing its circus skills with live orchestral music.
The Georgia-based company consists of professional acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, strongmen and contortionists from across the US who will visit Australia this month for shows in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, the latter partnering with WASO.
WASO program co-ordinator Natalie De Biasi, of West Perth, said the WASO programming department had wanted to host Cirque de la Symphonie at Perth Concert Hall for some time and the stars finally aligned for the 2016 season.

READ NOW“It got to the point where we were just waiting to line up a tour with the other Australian orchestras,” De Biasi said.
“It’s such a big trip for them and we just had to wait for the dominoes to stack up.
“We got three weeks in a row this month where we’re all free to do something, so we jumped on it.”
De Biasi, who is in charge of programming WASO’s special event concerts, said from what she had seen through videos, WASO was fortunate to have secured the company and looked forward to the live Cirque de la Symphonie experience.
“All of the artists have had huge careers before this and now tour exclusively with Cirque de la Symphonie,” she said.
“There are world record holders and Olympians in the calibre of people coming to perform.
“Our orchestral management department has been organising circus rigging at the top of Perth Concert Hall, which I don’t think has ever been done before.
“It’s going to be an incredible fusion of circus artistry like you’d see in Cirque du Soleil or any of those touring circuses, but with a whole symphony orchestra accompanying it.
“The orchestra will be playing popular classics, really recognisable tunes, and at the front of the orchestra all these artists will be doing absolutely stunning circus work.”
