2018 Children’s Book Week: City of Bayswater to host pirate parties for kids

KIDS can channel their inner pirate while finding treasures at the City of Bayswater’s libraries to celebrate Children’s Book Week.

The week runs from August 18 to 24.

Fitting with this year’s theme ‘find your treasure’, Bayswater, Maylands and Morley libraries will host pirate-themed parties on August 25.

There will be face panting, pirate stories, crafts and best-dressed prizes.

Mayor Dan Bull said hundreds of students would visit the libraries for school excursions or with their families and friends during the week.

“Amidst all the excitement, Book Week is the ideal time to teach children the value and responsibility of having their own library card,” he said.

– Family Pirate Party: Saturday, August 25, 9am to 11.30am at Maylands, Bayswater and Morley Libraries

– Pirate Storytime with Pirate Sparkles: Monday, August 20, 10.30am at Bayswater Library

– Pirate Storytime with Jesse the Wind Wanderer: Tuesday, August 21, 10.30am at Maylands Public Library

– Jumping Jelly Tots Storytime with Ruby Rainbow: Friday, August 24, 10.30am at Morley Library

– Comic Making Workshop with Campbell Whyte: Wednesday, August 22, 3.30pm to 5.30pm at Morley Library

Pizza and salad served after the workshop.
