She was born and raised in the US but has lived in Perth for the past five years.
Alvarado will head back to the states to complete a four-year softball scholarship at Utah State University.
“My goal has always been to play on the USA Olympic team,” she said.
“I have dual citizenship so I have the option of playing for Australia.”

“I will continue to play because the state competition finishes in March; after that I will keep training until I have to go,” Alvarado said.
