Aegis Aged Care Group’s five-storey development approved for Bassendean town centre

Mark DonaldsonEastern Reporter

A FIVE-storey development, which includes shop space, a nursing home and floors of apartments for over 55s in the Bassendean town centre has been approved.

Aegis Aged Care Group is funding the predicted $13 million precinct, which will attach to the existing Bassendean Aged Care Facility on the corner of Old Perth Road and Hamilton Street.

A former service station will be cleared to build the project.

The plan received approval from the Joint Development Assessment Panel last month.

It will consist of two top floors of residential apartments for over 55s and two lower levels with 64 beds for aged care.

It will bring the number of aged care beds across the existing facility and the new one to 103.

Shop space will take up the bottom floor.

The planning proposal said it aimed to meet “the high demand for quality aged care accommodation in Bassendean”.
