Aldi in Perth: huge crowds expected at Mirrabooka store opening on Wednesday

Denise S. CahillEastern Reporter

THE Square Mirrabooka centre manager Shane McLean has been liaising with the City of Stirling and police ahead of the opening of Aldi on Wednesday.

Mr McLean said big crowds were expected on opening day so the centre wanted to ensure the roads and footpaths around the perimeter of the centre were safe and not congested.

Aldi Mirrabooka is among four that will open at 8.30am across Perth on Wednesday.

The Square Mirrabooka will open at 8am with provisions in place for people to queue ahead of the opening of the 1500 sq m store.

Mr McLean said retailers and shoppers alike were excited about the opening because there had been such a long build up.

“Lots of our retailers believe they will get more trade from Aldi,” he said.

“Aldi aligns with our customer base quite well and it will increase our foot traffic and encourage new customers to come to the centre.”

The centre has recently rebranded and upgraded shop fit outs and amenities.

Mr McLean said he had visited an Aldi store in Europe about 10 years ago.

“I remember thinking how cool it was that you could get anything there,” he said.

“There’s so much variety and you never know what’s going to be on sale.”
