‘The key is to stand up for what you believe in.’

Ms Campbell said she was honoured to win The Bin Guys Triple Bottom Line Sustainability Award because there were many women in the construction industry who deserved recognition for their work.

‘I’m also proud because the work I and others do in connecting the construction and recycling industry to the benefit of both industries and the environment has been recognised,’ she said.

‘It is wonderful that NAWIC exists to promote the advancement of women in what is a male-dominated industry.

‘It can get a bit tricky juggling running your own business and having a family.

‘I’ll admit I haven’t quite figured out if the two can work together. That’s definitely the biggest challenge for me.’

The 37-year-old said her pro-bono work with Capital Recycling in Bayswater to promote the benefits of recycling in the wider construction industry was the basis for her award win.

Ms Campbell, who has seven years of experience, is the founding director of Encycle Consulting and works with developers and architectural firms to design new buildings so the occupiers can recycle effectively.
