Another dog detained over Ballajura cat attacks

THE City of Swan has confirmed at least one more dog has been seized in relation to the series of targetted attacks on cats in Ballajura.

It has received 22 confirmed reports of dog attacks in the area over the past three months

WA Police and community safety advocates from the City yesterday searched a home in Ballajura, resulting in a further seizure to those made on December 4.

However, the three dogs seized from a property in Ballajura on December 4 have been cleared from involvement in the attacks and released back to their owners.

Swan chief executive Mike Foley said he was not yet in a position to reveal the breed, colour or number of dogs seized yesterday.

“We are concerned media reports could influence people who witnessed attacks when they go to the pound to try to identify the dogs they saw from those impounded, and we cannot take this risk,” he said.

“It is in the interest of our community’s safety that the dogs which attacked the cats are properly identified, taken off the streets, and a full investigation completed.”

Mr Foley said it was important dog attacks were reported to the City and urged anyone affected to report the attack on 9267 9267.
