TRANSPERTH is putting on extra buses and trains to get people to and from the Anzac Day dawn services in Kings Park and Fremantle next Tuesday.
All serving and returned service personnel wearing their uniforms, campaign ribbons or medals can travel free on all Transperth bus, train and ferry services throughout the day.
Transperth spokesman David Hynes said bus and train services were expected to be very busy throughout the morning.
“We strongly encourage everyone to plan their journey and catch their train or bus as early as possible, so they get to the memorial well ahead of time,” Mr Hynes said.
Normal fares apply for people not wearing a service uniform or insignia, while seniors, aged and disability support pensioners can use their SmartRider to access free travel.
Kings Park Dawn Service
Special event train services will be operating to Perth on the Joondalup Line from 3.45am, 3.57am, 4.09am and 4.21am, and on the Mandurah Line from 3.36am, 3.48am, 4.00am and 4.12am.
Fremantle Line passengers will be able to catch a train from 4.22am and 4.37am, Armadale Line passengers from 3.47am, 4.04am and 4.22am, and Midland Line passengers from 4.05am, 4.23am and 4.38am
Route 620 to Kings Park will leave Perth Busport from approximately 4.30am.
While buses are accessible for people with mobility difficulties, some of the locations (eg. within Kings Park) are not. Refer to the RSL website for detailed information.
All other buses will run to a standard Public Holiday timetable and some deviations will be in place due to CBD road closures.
Kings Park internal shuttle
Route 621 will operate between the Vietnam War Memorial and the coach terminus near Wadjuk Way between 4.25am and approximately 9am.
Fremantle Memorial Dawn Service
Trains to Fremantle will leave Perth Station (Platform 7) at 3.47am, 4.02am and 4.32am.
Connecting shuttle buses to Monument Hill will leave Fremantle Station, Stand 3, from 4.30am, with return shuttles back to Fremantle Station after the dawn service.
