Ashfield: police investigating car crash involving stolen BMW

PERTH Detectives are investigating a car crash involving a stolen BMW in Ashfield overnight.

About 10.40pm, the male driver parked outside a property on Windsor Street, Highgate.

Three people approached the driver while he was unloading his trailer.

One of the people punched the driver several times.

The trio initially struggled to start the engine before leaving the scene in the BMW.

About 12.50am this morning, police were called to a crash at the corner of Guildford Road and Fisher Street in Ashfield.

It appeared the driver of the stolen vehicle lost control and struck a parked car, which then caught fire.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

The stolen vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
