Balga murder: Police call for witnesses

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

HOMICIDE Squad detective Chris Taylor is calling for witnesses to come forward as police investigate the murder of a man in Balga last week.

Just after 8.30pm on August 4, police were called to a house in Dallington Crescent where they found a 36-year-old man.

The man was treated by St John Ambulance officers but died a short time later.

Senior Sergeant Taylor said anyone who was in the Balga area between 7pm and 9pm that night could have helpful information.

“We are seeking anybody that may have been driving in the area with dash cam footage, or anybody who may have seen anything and thought that what they saw was suspicious,” he said.

“The streets that we are interested in, in particular, are Dallington Crescent, Climping Street, Balney Place and Byworth Place.

Snr Sgt Taylor said he could not reveal more about how the man died.

“A post-mortem is being conducted as we speak and that would determine a cause of death,” he said.

He said after four days nothing had changed with their investigation other than some information police gained from CCTV footage and doorknocks.

“The white and black cars are associated with our crime scene…they didn’t belong to the victim,” he said.

Snr Sgt Taylor said the public should not be concerned about their safety.

“We think that certainly the person may have been known to them but at this stage, the public has nothing to be concerned about,” he said.
