The council approved the application for four fixed wooden beam structures on the footpath on Old Perth Road subject to a list of conditions, including payment of a $2112 bond to the Town to cover the cost of damage to public thoroughfare.

No more than 12 tables and 40 chairs would be permitted in the outdoor eating area and alfresco dining can be set up only between 10am and midnight Mondays to Saturdays, and 10am to 10pm Sundays.

The small bar, owned by Steve Fletcher and Stuart Ridgway, will be the first of its kind in Bassendean.

The two rowers have included the wooden skeletons of boats in the ceiling as part of the decor.

An extension was made to the rear of the building to accommodate the kitchen and a function room, which will be open for use by community groups.

The bar is expected to be open next month.
