KIARA Police charged four people for allegedly possessing 500g of cannabis, methamphetamine, an unlicensed firearm and operating a hydroponic setup in Bassendean last month.

At 7.30am on September 19, police and detectives split into two teams to conduct search warrants at houses on Old Perth Road and Hamilton Street.

Acting officer-in-charge George Bogunovich said the two addresses were allegedly linked.

“One of the houses had a hydroponic setup in the backyard… they were allegedly growing some plants at the back which were also seized as well,” he said.

“From intelligence we gathered and from our surveillance of the addresses, (we found) they were linked to be working with each other simultaneously.

“At one address, there was just over $2000 and the other house had about $800 in cash.”

Sgt Bogunovich said one female visitor was charged with possession of methamphetamine and would appear at Midland Magistrates Court on October 5.

He said one man was charged with intent to sell and supply prohibited drugs, possession of unlicensed weapons and dangerous goods (fireworks).

Another man was charged with intent to sell and supply drugs, possession of an unlicensed firearm and the cultivation of a prohibited plant.

A female partner of one of the men was charged with intent to sell and supply prohibited drugs.

The trio will appear at Midland Magistrates Court on Wednesday, October 4.
