THE first draft plans for Bassendean are taking shape and will be available for the public to review next Thursday.
Community feedback for the future development of 11ha of land was gathered from an online survey last year and three community forums held by LandCorp throughout this year.
The feedback was used to shape the development plans.
A LandCorp spokesman said the Stakeholder Reference Group and the Community Working Group had spent the past month discussing the project parameters and design ideas in order to produce the first draft concept plans.
Preserving green space was a priority for many people who attended the forums and guarantees were also sought that Bassendean would not end up a high-rise building suburb.
Parents of children at St Michael’s School, which uses the BIC Reserve as its oval, expressed concern about the possibility of losing the space to the development.
A petition with 1355 signatures presented to the Town of Bassendean in March called for green spaces to be retained in its entirety at the Bassendean Oval and BIC Reserve development sites.
Plans to date will be available to view on April 28 at Swan Districts Football Club, Steel Blue Oval, Old Perth Road, Bassendean from 7pm and 8.30pm.
Another review will happen in May.
