Staff ReporterEastern Reporter

A refurbished Coles supermarket with an additional 1000sqm of floor space is scheduled to open in stage two.

The new redevelopment represents an investment by its owners, Hawaiian, of over $20 million.

New centre retailer The Reject Shop is expected to create 20 jobs in the area.

The Reject Shop managing director Chris Bryce said the team were delighted to be opening their new store in Bassendean.

‘Our Bassendean customers will find The Reject Shop is a great place to save money on a huge range of products, including homewares, kitchenware, hardware, pet care, household cleaning products, toiletries and cosmetics,’ he said.

Coles will start its fitout in late 2013.

Other changes resulting from the redevelopment include a cafe overlooking Bassendean Oval, level parking and a new travelator.

Work is expected to be completed early next year.
