TWO former My Kitchen Rules semi-finalists will be cooking up a storm in Bassendean next week.
Anna (56) and Jordan (24) Bruno will host a dinner event at the Maltese Association of WA on June 26.
Anna’s special rabbit dish, fish and chips and dessert are on the menu.
A member of the club since her teens, she said she had many memories of the club. “I used to cook in the kitchen on Fridays before MKR but I have not got the chance to this year,” Anna said.
“When I was younger, at about 19 or even younger, they actually had a Little Malta competition, and I was entered in that.”
Anna said the show had given her more confidence in her cooking.
“I just love that it means I could cook for the people that I love, to bring people together and taste all the flavours,” she said.
“I am looking forward to cooking for the Maltese members.”
Jordan said he was about 14 years old when he first visited the club and looked forward to the event.
“It is really showing Maltese food in its traditional form and it is really exciting,” he said.
Jordan said MKR had changed his life for the better.
“You get recognised on the street but I suppose it opened up more opportunities ,” he said.
Maltese Association of WA president Stephen Cauchi said he urged the mother-son duo to apply for the reality show because members loved Anna’s food.
“When she was here, everybody was really happy with it and watching it on TV, just to see Maltese food being featured was so different,” Mr Cauchi said.
He said there was a limit of about 100-120 tickets for the night.
Anna said she hoped to start home cooking lessons in August.
“I have accumulated a lot of knowledge so it would be good to pass it on,” she said.
Jordan said he wanted to open a cafe serving traditional and healthy food in the northern suburbs, potentially in Bassendean, at the end of the year.
The event will be at the Maltese Association of WA on Sunday, June 26. Tickets are on sale for $20 until June 16, contact 0411 511 802.
