Bassendean’s Nail Brewing Australia adds two more awards to collection

ONE of WA’s most popular brewers, Nail Brewing Australia in Bassendean, added two awards to its growing collection of accolades this month.

The brewery, located on Collier Road, won the Victorian Beer Label Collectors Society Alex Ferrer Micro Brewery Label of the Year for their Beazle Brew and The Crafty Pint’s best pale ale award for their Very Pale Ale (VPA).

Owner and head brewer John Stallwood said the Beazle was dedicated to a late family member of Nail’s eastern states supplier, HT Beverages.

“Beazle was named after Daniel Anthony Bell – the son and brother of the owners Tony and Adam,” he said.

“He passed away in his sleep when he was 21 – it is a sad story.

“It says on the label – ‘precious son, little bro, best friend and talented muso will forever be missed’.”

Mr Stallwood said the VPA was the label’s biggest seller.

“It is 6.5 per cent, hoppy and basically Crafty Pint had a selection process where they picked 26 samples off the shelves in any bottle shop over east,” he said.

“Then, they did blind tastings on them and the winner was VPA.

“Awards just help with knowing that you are on the right track and give motivation to keep going.”

The brewery will also be releasing a mid-strength beer called MVP in cans on Thursday followed by their yearly batch of award-winning Clout Stout.
