Kristie LimEastern Reporter

BEER brewed in Bassendean will feature at an interstate beer festival during Good Beer Week.

Nail Brewing has been running for 16 years and was named the best medium brewery at the National Craft Beer Awards in 2014.

The company is participating in the Great Australasian Beer Spectapular 2016 Beer, Cider and Food Festival (GABS) in Melbourne from May 20-22.

Following Melbourne, GAPS continues in Sydney and Auckland.

Nail Brewing owner John Stallwood said their product had a strong taste.

“Our beer will have American branded ale and we have ramped up on Citra hops,” he said.

“To have that much hops in it, you need to balance it out with the caramel malts.”

Mr Stallwood said brewers had to be passionate about their work.

“It is very hard work, to do the extra yards to get your beer to a good quality,” he said.

More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the event.

GABS was listed as one of the top 20 beer festivals in the world in 2015 in an American magazine, The Beer Connoisseur.
