ACTRESS Monica Main, who has lived in Bayswater for the past 24 years, will showcase the history behind the original 1950s buildings in the town centre during a free walking tour.
The Bayswater Historical Society has organised the free historical tour after it received a $1000 grant from the City of Bayswater.
The Rise and Fall of the Corner Store walking tour will start at the Old Apostolic Church on Slade Street and walk through Whatley Crescent, King William, Murray and Leake streets before finishing at the Bayswater Bowling and Recreation Club.

Main said there was a lot of history behind original 1950s buildings in the town centre, including That Cafe, Liquorland and King William Antiques and Collectibles.
“Bayswater did not just pop up overnight,” she said.
“The deli was like your local shop and people would go there, so a lot of those houses which were delis are still there.
“They are not delis anymore; some of them you can really see they still have got the big windows and you get a sense that there was a shop there.”
The tours will be held on October 14 and October 21 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
