Perth couple turn $12 Lotto win into $1 million

Justin BianchiniEastern Reporter

A $12.80 win on Monday night Lotto last week prompted a Beechboro couple to use their winnings on a Wednesday Lotto ticket, resulting in them becoming WA’s latest millionaires.

The couple, who both work in the public sector, said they were “feeling lucky” after such a fortunate Monday night win.

“I don’t play Lotto all the time,” the wife said.

“I told my husband six months ago ‘I never win, I’m going to stop buying Lotto’ but on Monday I thought why not?

“When I went to collect my $12.80 win, the Lotterywest retailer asked if I’d like to buy a Wednesday Lotto ticket. I was feeling lucky after Monday’s win so I did.”

The couple thought they had only won $250,000, not realising that Monday and Wednesday Lotto was a guaranteed $1 million for up to four winners.

When asked what they’d like to do now they were millionaires, the couple said they’d like to buy a 4WD and travel around Australia.
