Blind filmmaker releases trailer for second film

BASSENDEAN filmmaker Peter Renzullo, who is legally blind, has released the trailer of his second film, Skylight – Caroline’s Tale.

This film comes after Renzullo won 17 international awards for his debut film, Anticipation, last year.

Skylight – Caroline’s Tale is based on a story set in the 1930s in Perth about a tortured love affair between two lovers.

The fate of the two is portrayed in a play performed by a local theatre group but the real tale is only known to the main character Caroline.

Renzullo worked with Brisbane-based cinematographer Ben Knibb in producing the trailer.

He said he wrote the film off the back of a concept album he created which shared the same name.

“The entire story was derived from the story told in the album, and the music from that album will be featured in this film,” he said.

“The story explores the subject of rumour and how it is spread and manipulated to serve the person telling it, which results in the complete removal of any reality in it.

“Having only filmed the trailer so far, highlights definitely included the wonderful setting of Caroline’s home (the main character).”

He said he aimed to finish the film by the end of the year.

“We are currently in the pre-production stage of the shoot, which requires a lot of help from individuals or businesses who may be able to offer sponsorship or even donation of funds to help us make this on a scale far greater than Anticipation,” he said.

“We feel we have something truly special with this new film, and we want it to have the best chance it can.”

He said the release date of the film was yet to be determined.
