Australia Day Booze Bandits

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

BOOZE-loving thieves did their best to put a dampener on Australia Day celebrations in Perth’s eastern suburbs this week.

Kiara Police received a report on January 26 that an unknown offender entered the backyard of Morley Drive property in Eden Hill and stole 20 pre-mixed alcoholic drinks from the rear patio.

Officer in charge senior sergeant Ian North said the offender or offenders might have entered and left via the rear fence.

“There was a bench pushed up against the rear fence,” he said.

A hand drill was also stolen.

Jonathan Lowther from Prospector Loop in Bassendean posted on a community Facebook page on the same day that he had also been targetted.

“Woke up this morning to find out our beer fridge in the back yard was broken in to and chairs moved to fence, around $80 worth of Aussie day p*ss taken,” he wrote

A commenter asked if he still enjoyed his Australia Day.

“Yeah had a great one thanks,” he wrote.
