Bridge over troubled roadways opened

Lauren PilatEastern Reporter

It was part of a $22 million State Government project to replace all bridges in the area and was unveiled by Transport Minister Dean Nalder on May 6.

Mr Nalder said the new 80m bridge, carrying about 3500 vehicles a day, was designed by GHD for Main Roads WA to meet safety standards and built slightly ahead of schedule by Decmil-OHL.

Mr Nalder said the new bridge provided extra clearance over Railway Parade and Whatley Crescent and a wide path for cyclists and pedestrians.

"The widening of this bridge does allow the expansion of the railway out to Midland," he said.
