WA Police had its first Day of Action in response to crime issues in Bassendean, Bayswater and Midland.

Local police teams, detectives and specialist resources including State traffic police, regional operations group, canine and mounted units carried out patrols.

Bayswater Officer -in-Charge Will Withers said the suburbs were targeted by police because of a high rate of stealing offences.

“Some of the areas we (targeted include) shopping precincts, service stations, liquor stores, carparks, train stations,” he said.

Sen Sgt Withers said the large police presence aimed to deter criminal activity.
