Celebrities help launch cancer event at zoo

The cooking duo are ambassadors for the 2014 Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, which they helped launch at Perth Zoo last Thursday with a live cooking demonstration.

Mr Faust lost his mum to lung cancer 19 years ago and his sister was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer.

He said his sister had surgery and was recovering well.

‘We’re just trying to give her as much food as we can,’ he said.

Mr Faust made red Thai curry chicken bites, while Ms Gare whipped up a chia banana cake with yoghurt icing.

Comedian Sam Longley emceed the event, while Perth Zoo’s 57-year-old elephant Tricia was a special guest.

Morning teas will be held throughout next month with Cancer Council WA aiming to raise $1.6 million to support prevention programs, research and support services.
