Church spreads wings of service

Staff ReporterEastern Reporter

The Girrawheen church had already been collecting food for the needy and distributing it each week at the Hainsworth Community Centre, but this year they have also set up at the Ballajura Dungeon Youth Centre on Mondays.

Pastor Judy Hermon said seniors and the unemployed were welcome.

‘We know there are families here, and other areas, that are struggling,’ she said.

‘We want to help them with fresh vegetables and other food; we also come here and cook so they can have a hot meal.’

Ms Hermon said people wanting to make donations could also do so at the same time.

The food collection is held every Monday from 11.30am at the corner of Cassowary Drive and Pelican Parade, Ballajura (except public holidays), and at Hainsworth Community Centre, Hainsworth Avenue, Girrawheen, from 11.30am every Thursday.
