THE City of Bayswater has installed solar panels at its civic centre as part of its bid to reach 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030.

Last month, 64 kilowatt solar panels were installed on the centre’s roof.

City buildings that have solar panels include The Rise in Maylands, Bayswater Waves and the works depot.

Mayor Dan Bull said the City was keen to ensure everyday operations did not contribute to climate change.

“Our goal is to reach 100% renewable energy by 2030 over 10 years and net zero carbon emissions by 2040 over 20 years,” he said.

“We are looking forward to adding an electric vehicle to the City’s fleet next year, powered exclusively by solar energy.”

He said the City would add an electric vehicle to the fleet this year.
