City of Bayswater charges Beilby Consulting with finding new chief executive

BEILBY Consulting has been appointed to hunt for City of Bayswater’s next chief executive.

Council decided to let go of former chief executive Francesca Lefante in August, with finance and corporate services director Carissa Bywater acting as chief executive since Ms Lefante left in September.

Council put off appointing a recruitment agency and selection panel to look at more proposals at a meeting in November and this week went against a City officer recommendation to hire company Lester Blades.

Mayor Barry McKenna said Beilby Consulting offered a more competitive price and had the skills and experience needed.

“The first step in the process will be the convening of a special council meeting,” he said.

“The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the capabilities we are seeking in a new chief executive and the timing of the recruitment process.”

The consultant would cost $35,000.

Council did not appoint five councillors for a selection panel, despite an officer recommendation to the contrary.

“All matters about the recruitment process, including whether to establish a panel will be considered at the upcoming special council meeting – for which a date hasn’t been set,” Cr McKenna said.
