DISCUSSIONS surrounding outgoing City of Bayswater chief executive Francesca Lefante’s contract are ongoing following a special council meeting held last night.

Last week, Bayswater Council did not renew Ms Lefante’s contract, which expires next year, after a confidential review.

She has been chief executive for eight years and spent 15 years at the City.

Bayswater Mayor Barry McKenna said last night’s special council meeting was held to consider the CEO’s employment contract.

“Discussions with the chief executive are continuing and when these have been completed, the City will issue a statement,” he said.

Ms Lefante, previously the director of planning and development services, said she understood and accepted the council’s decision.

The City of Bayswater would not respond to questions about why the council did not renew the contract.

The minutes of either council meeting are currently not available.
