CITY of Bayswater corporate and strategy director Carissa Bywater has accepted the Town of Mosman Park chief executive position.

Ms Bywater has been at Bayswater for six years and has served as acting chief executive on several occasions, including a period of six months from 2016 to 2017 following the sacking of Francesca Lefante.

She previously worked as a general manager, which is equivalent to a chief executive position, at Forbes Shire Council in New South Wales.

She has a Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in accounting, post graduate qualifications and an MBA.

Mosman Park Mayor Brett Pollock made the announcement at a special council meeting on Tuesday.

Bayswater chief executive Andrew Brien said the City was proud of Ms Bywater’s achievements.

“She has been instrumental in the establishment of participatory budgeting and the development of the City’s new website, and her hands on approach with residents and ratepayers has resulted in strong, positive relationships between staff and the community,” he said.

“Most recently, Carissa has managed the transition of the City owned Mertome Retirement Village to aged care specialists Hall and Prior.

“Her continued support of both myself and the entire council is something I appreciate immensely, and her departure will be a tremendous loss to the City of Bayswater.

“We are all very proud to see her make the most of this wonderful opportunity, and have no doubt that she will be a fantastic CEO.”

In a Facebook post, Mayor Pollock said the Town was pleased to welcome Ms Bywater as the new chief executive.

“Her qualifications and experience are excellent and I have no doubt Carissa will provide great leadership for the staff and forge a strong partnership with the council,” he said.

“She is going to be real asset for our community.”

Ms Bywater will start at the Town in June, when interim chief executive Stephen Goode will be leaving the position.
