THE City of Bayswater will investigate the preservation of the 150th celebration of WA Swan logo at Maylands Waterland.

Councillors unanimously supported Cr Catherine Ehrhardt’s motion requesting chief executive Andrew Brien to look at preserving the public display located in the large pool, at last week’s council meeting.

The logo celebrated the European colonisation of WA in 1979.

During the celebrations, the logo was used on post stamps and merchandise.

Cr Ehrhardt said something was going to happen at Waterland so it would be good to preserve the logo.

“We don’t know that it is going to end up being a refurbishment or removal,” she said.

“I just wanted to put the steps in place now to preserve a part of history in Maylands – that is the swan in the large pool which is a public display in a public place in Maylands.”
