Mayor Dan Bull said the services would help reduce waste going into landfill.

“A dedicated green waste bin means there’s less chance of quality garden matter like leaves, lawn clippings and branches ending up in landfill,” he said.

“Instead, the waste collected in these bins will be mulched and re-used.

“A mattress and whitegoods collection is something residents have been asking for, and we’re pleased to offer this on-call service free of charge.”

Cr Bull said residents could request two mattresses and whitegoods collections from their home per year.

“Hopefully the convenience of this service will also see a decrease in the illegal dumping of unwanted household items,” he said.
