City of Bayswater wins award for Have A Go event

The City of Bayswater and Inclusion WA’s fourth Have a Go Day won the award, for its event held at The RISE, attended by 1000 people.

The event aimed to give local clubs an opportunity to promote themselves and increase membership by allowing the community to have a go at an activity or sport they may not have encountered before.

Activities included belly dancing, trumpet playing, cartooning and disabled surfing.

Mayor Barry McKenna said; “no matter what your age or ability there are still plenty of opportunities to participate in community life”.

Inclusion WA sport and community development manager Denver D’Cruz said after the success of the event, Inclusion WA and the City has designed a new program called Bayswater Connect.
