City of Stirling to consult community on future of Dianella Light Industrial Precinct

DIANELLA residents and businesses can help provide the City of Stirling develop a vision for the rezoned Dianella light industrial area at an upcoming workshop.

The WA Planning Commission recently approved a local planning scheme amendment to rezone the area bounded by Boulton Street, Elsegood Street, Walter Road West and Grand Promenade from industrial to local centre and residential zones, with a density code of R-AC0.

There will be a workshop held in early 2019 to put forward a planning option and gather further community comment.

Draft plans for the area will then be presented at a community open day.

During the first workshop earlier this month, the community discussed streetscapes, building heights, a suburban versus urban style area and ideas about how the area should look in the future.

Deputy Mayor David Lagan said it was important for the City to develop a broad consensus with the community during the planning stage.

Inglewood ward councillor Bianca Sandri, also a director at Urbanista Town Planning, said the best outcomes came from getting out to the community.
