Comments received will be considered for inclusion in the final draft document and presented to the council.

The plan will consider the economic development, social landscape, natural and built environment in Malaga.

Some of the main issues include illegal land uses by businesses and owners, increased levels of toxins in water catchments, ensuring heritage aspects of Malaga are protected and maintained and street parking habits.

Mayor David Lucas urged all residents to get involved.

“Local area planning is crucial to the future development of the City of Swan and involves community members working closely with the City to identify specific issues affecting their community,” he said.

“Malaga has a very important role as a key employment area for the City of Swan and entire northeast region of Perth, therefore it’s important we get the direction of future planning for this area right.”
