Clarkson man charged with assault of woman in Westminster

Mirrabooka detectives have made a breakthrough in relation to the assault of a woman in her 20s in Westminster during the early hours of Wednesday.

After making a public appeal for information on Friday, detectives charged overnight a 28-year-old man from Clarkson.

It will be alleged about 5.30am on February 27, the man grabbed the woman from behind and dragged her to the ground while she was walking along a path on Wanneroo Road, near Amberley Way.

As she attempted to push him away he allegedly punched her several times to the face.

He has been charged with deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
