Cork and Bottle in Bassendean to shut its doors

BASSENDEAN small bar Cork and Bottle is closing after three years.

The bar opened on Old Perth Road in 2016.

It’s drink selection, tasty nibbles and functions have been loved by local residents and those who lived beyond the suburb.

Co-owner Stuart Ridgeway advertised the premise up for sale on Gumtree on Wednesday.

The bar made the announcement on its Facebook page.

“Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the last three years,” the post stated.

“However the time has arrived to call last orders and pull the shutters down.

“If anyone would like to take over the reins and have a crack at running the cosiest bar in Perth just get in touch.

“Staff are great and the opportunity is a good one.”

The bar will remain this week with limited stock and potentially next week.

Customers expressed their sadness with the announcement on Facebook.

“Such a lovely little bar. So sorry it is now closing, but I thank you for proving a wonderful place locally, to share a glass of Rose’ in a beautiful Plumm glass, a cheese board whilst my friends and I catch up. Wishing you well.” – Corrina Cook

UPDATE 5/5/19 9AM: Cork and Bottle owners are hopeful the bar will “live on”

In a statement, the owners said they received a lot of interest from potential buyers.

“We have come to a point where we have restructured the business and whilst we love the bar we felt we had done our time and that new energy was needed to move forward,” the owners said.

We have had a lot of interest and are very hopeful that we will get a buyer so the bar can live on.”
