At the Residents and Ratepayers Association meeting on September 1, attendees discussed disappointment that Cr Rifici was not more involved or approachable to residents.

Cr Rifici, a North Fremantle resident who previously owned Riffo’s Caf in Maylands, said he ran for council to ‘endeavour to make Maylands a more enjoyable place to live’ and was elected in October.

‘The people of Maylands wanted me to do a task for them and I’m committed to completing that job. I’ve been in communication with many residents regarding different issues,’ he said.

Association president Roger Tomlins said people felt Cr Rifici wasn’t available for matters as the Maylands representative and that other ward councillors had to step in.

‘People have asked him to do things and he finds some excuse to walk away,’ he said.
