A DIRTY takeaway in Maylands has been fined for breaching cleanliness standards under the Food Act.

Mandy’s Late Nite Takeaway on Guildford Road was fined $15,000 and ordered to pay costs of $1800.30.

Inspectors from the City of Bayswater found the premises and equipment were not maintained to a standard of cleanliness.

The business also failed to take all practicable measures to eradicate and prevent the harbourage of pests.

A conviction published by the WA Department of Health said the business had four breaches of the Food Act, namely accumulation of food waste, dirt and grease, failing to maintain all equipment to a standard of cleanliness and selling food past the used-by date.

The business committed the offences on January 24 and February 18, with owner Francesco Rechichi convicted on August 16.

Bins and a traffic cone were lined up outside the takeaway premises, which appears to be closed for business with newspaper covering the windows.

Staff at Mandy’s Late Nite Takeaway declined to comment when contacted by Community News.
